Jack K. Agee, long time Colorado Springs attorney, passed away on December 31, 2012. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia to James L. and Cora Nell Counts Agee on July 22, 1929. He had three siblings, James L. Agee (who preceded him in death), Nancy Hodges (Leon) and Joseph S. Agee (Eloise). He graduated from Randolph Macon College in Virginia, attended Washington and Lee University School of Law, and received his LLB from the University of Denver's College of Law. He and his roommate traveled from Virginia to Colorado for a summer lark, and Jack loved Colorado so much that he transferred to the University of Denver, where he met Joan Martin. They were married at First United Methodist Church on August 17, 1957. The couple moved to Colorado Springs in 1959, where Jack established his law practice. He retired in 2000. Jack was a Marine and served during the Korean Conflict. He obtained the rank of captain. He and Joan loved to travel, and visited all seven continents. Jack believed in education and established scholarships at the University of Denver's College of Law and Randolph Macon College. He enjoyed skiing, dancing and sports. Jack served on the boards of Suicide Referral, Pikes Peak Area Council of Camp Fire Girls, Interfaith Hospitality Network, Social Advocates for Youth, Humane Society, Voice of Truth and Winter Night Club. He belonged to the Pikes Peak Kiwanis Club, where he served as president and lieutenant governor. He was honored to receive several Kiwanis distinguished service awards, including the Legion of Honor Award and the Division 4 Lifetime Achievement Award. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and will be interned in the church columbarium. Jack is survived by his wife, two children, and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 420 North Nevada Avenue. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or to the charity of the giver's choice.
