Dorothy Marie Alexander passed away 9:08 a.m. Sunday at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.

Dorothy was born to Ernest J. and Anna (Guth) Wahlfeldt. She married Raymond V. Alexander on August 3, 1965 in Danville. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter Jennie (William) Wright of Nashville, North Carolina; two sons Michael (Barbara) Shull Sr. of Tilton and Doug Alexander of Potomac; seven grandchildren- Billie Jo Hinote, Michael (Shelby Claypool) Schull, Jr., Brian ( Sara) Schull, Ryan (Riki) Shull, Justin Alexander, Logan Alexander and Ethan Alexander. Two great-grandchildren Emberlyn and Kolsyn Schull. One brother Richard (Clarice) Wahlfeldt of Danville, three sisters Ernestine Burris of Danville, Norma Holycross of Tilton and Evelyn Nolen of Georgetown and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert and two sisters Martha Ann and Ruth Ellen Ashby.

Dorothy worked at F & S Poultry, Kroger, Osco and IGA in Davnille. She also drove the van for Work Source in Danville until she retired. Dorothy was a Lutheran by faith and was a member of Women's Navy Club, Champaign Bowling Association, Potomac School Board, Middlefork Ambulance Board and a life member and volunteer for Vermillion County Museum. In her younger years she was very involved in her children's activites. She would serve as class trip chaperone, scout den mother and drove for the Potomac Girls Athletic Association.

Dorothy was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing euchre, word search puzzles, a great cook, enjoyed watching hummingbirds, an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan, spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved watching Judge Judy and everyone knew that you didn't call her while it was on tv.

Visitation is January 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are January 30 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Sally Swaim officiating.
Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery
