Francis E. Cundiff, of Hoopeston passed away at 10:10 p.m. January 18, 2014 at Heritage Health Nursing Home.

Francis was born September 15, 1924 in Pilot Township, Collison, Illinois to John William and Emma Edith (Atwood) Cundiff. He married his high school sweetheart Margaret Irene Spain on November 20, 1944 in Oakwood. She preceded him in death on April 1, 2008.

He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Danny)Shown of Searcy, Ark. and Marlena (Ralph) Depretis-Lusher of Benton, Ark. Two sons Melvin (Marjorie) Cundiff of Royalton and Marvin (Patricia) Cundiff of Brownsville, KY. One brother Ted (Pat) Cundiff of Danville, one sister June (John) McFarland of Fairmount, 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, one son Francis Cundiff, Jr.; four sisters Viola Cundiff, Grace Cundiff, Sarah Herriott and Marie Miller and two brothers Leslie and Jesse Cundiff.

Francis had his ministers license and enjoyed preaching in Watseka from 1952-1953 and later preached in Rankin. On the weekends he filled in for preachers in the Hoopeston area. He also worked for Joan of Arc Canning Company for 32 1/2 years. He retired in 1987.

After retiring he cared for his wife Irene and did this with no regrets.

Francis was a member of Chestnut Street Church of Christ and Teamsters Union no. 26 in Danville. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, camping and playing the harmonica.

A celebration of his life will be held January 22, 2014 at Chestnut Church of Christ. Burial will be January 24, 2014 at Potomac Cemeter, Potomac, IL.
