John Franklin Bailey, son of Dan and Mary (Taylor) Bailey, and grandson of Samuel Bailey who served in Connecticut, 16th Regiment, 9th Co. in the American Revolution.
He married Mary E. Fulton in 1865.
He married Ellen O. Peck July 22, 1890 in East Montpelier, VT.
His death notice appeared in the Vermont Journal on March 2, 1895:
John F. Bailey, formerly superintendent of the state prison, died at his home near Montpelier, last week, and his remains were brought to Windsor for interment, Friday. For a number of years, Mr. Bailey's home had been in Wyoming where he carried on a large mink ranch near Cheyenne. About two years ago he was stricken with paralysis, and soon afterwards returned east. Mr. Bailey was about sixty years of age, and is survived by his wife and several sons and daughters.
