Louis Bicking, Jr. held a Ph.D in Bio-Physics from Johns Hopkins University. During his doctoral studies he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow - a most prestigious scholarship. Before his death in the late 1960's, his research was in the field of whole eye transplants, a medical feat not yet realized as of this date. He was an avid spelunker and traveled across the nation to meet the challenges of caving. He died in an accident while riding his motorcycle at the age of 24 years.
