Amanda Gertrude Clites, 102, who resided in Manor Care of Carlisle passed away peacefully, on Saturday November 10,2012.
Amanda was an itinerant minister for over 61 years, sowing
the gospel seed throughout Pennsylvania, from 1933 to 1947, in North Carolina,1947-1951, in Tennessee from 1951-1961, Kentucky 1961-1972 , Missiouri 1972-1978,in Arkansas the year 1978-1979, and in North Dakota the year 1991-1992, and South Dakota from 1979 to 1991, and again in Pennsylvania from 1992 to 1994.
Amanda has lived in Pennsylvania since 1994, first with family and from January 2000 in assisted living facility, and from September 2011 in Manor Care of Carlisle. Amanda was able to respond to visitors except for the last several weeks.
Amanda was born October 24,1910 to the late Silas and Sarah Clites of Buffalo Mills, PA. She was preceded in death by
three sisters, Mary Robertson, Maude Clites and Mabel Clites, and by five brothers - William, Earl, Lenzie, Guye and Ross Clites.
Amanda is survived by two nephews who live locally - Kenneth Clites of Carlisle and Richard Clites of Ellottsburg, as well as others living in New Jersey. Pennsylvania and Ohio.
A viewing will be held Wednesday November 14, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. in the Perry Mennonite Reception Center, Elliottsburg, Pa.
Funeral will follow on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. with
Albert Knaggs officiating. Burial will be on Thursday at 10:00 Am> in the Clites Family Cemetery in Elliottsburg.Pa.
Arrangements are being handled by the Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, PA.
