Mrs. George E. Poyneer
Called This Morning
Died Very Suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital - Was Only Ill Since Last Tuesday.
__Mrs. Emma Poyneer, wife of George E. Poyneer, 1719 D avenue, died very suddenly at about 4 o'clock this morning at St. Luke's hospital. She was taken ill only last Tuesday and her condition became so bad that she was taken to the hospital shortly before midnight last night, but only lived a few hours after her arrival.
__Mrs. (sic.) Emma Shafer was born at Greenville, Pa. in 1853, and when but a child came to Cedar Rapids with her mother, the city at that time being but a village. She resided here for a number of years and then moved to Clinton, where she was married. She afterwards removed with her husband to Williamsburg and six years ago they came to Cedar Rapids to Live.
__Besides her husband Mrs. Poyneer is survived by two children. Miss Charlotte, who only next Wednesday was to have been married to Dr. Charles Knox, and Frederick J. Poyneer, both living at home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, a member of the board of the Old Ladies' Home and also belonged to the Ladies' Literary society. She was a loving wife and mother, and will also be greatly missed by a large circle of devoted friends.
__The funeral will be held from the residence at 5 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. E. R. Burkhalter officiating.
