Joseph and Florence Bieneski were married Jan. 15, 1907 in Ohalewo, Poland. Joseph was born March 11, 1882 in Lepin, Poland and Florence (Faliexa Ruthowski) was born on March 21, 1886.
The Bieneski's lived in Lepin, Poland the first years of their marriage while their first two children were born. In 1911 Mr. Bieneski wanted to make a better living so he borrowed money and sailed for America and left behind his wife and daughters. Joe first came to Chicago but he was not able to get a job so he went to Stephen where he landed a job on the Gillespie Farm for $30 a month. He also worked on the Setton Farm, the Morkassel Farm and the Lancaster Farm. After 3 years he was able to send money to his family to join him. Mrs. Bieneski said they came first class, the service was very good and the dining rooms were beautiful with table cloths and silver. Mr. Bieneski wanted them to come first class because he had come third class and he had experienced very bad food and a hard trip.
After working on farms for 9 years, he bought the farm in Middle River Township from the Pioneer Land Company in Warren that the family still owns and where they farmed for many years before retiring in the city of Argyle. The Bieneskis came to the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN in 1975.
There children are: Mrs. Larry (Staffie) Pawlowski of Argyle, Mrs. Gene (Cecelia) Robertson of Grand Forks and Johnnie Bieneski of Argyle. A daughter, Mrs. Steve (Mary) Deleski and son, Stanley Bieneski are deceased.
