Doris Marie Fomby Crowell was born on October 11, 1927 the 5th child of William Jesse and Bertha Lee Tabor Fomby at Shiloh in Union Parish, Louisiana. After finishing school she moved to Ruston and later to Shreveport where she worked and met her husband Thomas D. Crowell. They then moved to Dallas where there daughter Leona was born. After the death of her husband she went back to work for many years.
Doris went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2009 in Dallas. She left behind her beloved daughter, Leona Marie Crowell Maroney, her granddaughter, Amanda Maroney Reeves and her grandson, Pvt. Brandon Thomas Maroney and wife Nicole, and her precious great grandchildren, Devin David Reeves and Addison Marie Reeves. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Fomby and his wife Lovie, as well as her sisters, Beatrice Fleischer, Evelyn Moore and Tressie Upshaw, and several nieces and nephews.
Waiting in Heaven for Doris are her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Jesse Marvin Fomby, William Lee Fomby and James Wilson Fomby.
