Northwest Airlines pilot Steven J. Allison died of pancreatic cancer Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, in Portland. He was 53.

Mr. Allison was born July 23, 1947, in Spokane and lived in the Vancouver area for 20 years. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and received many decorations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He worked for Horizon Airlines from 1988 until 1998 and retired from the Air Force in 1995.

A devoted father and avid sportsman, he enjoyed skiing, boating and flying his Cessna 180.

Survivors include one son, James of Vancouver; one sister, Connie A. Riley of Sausalito, Calif.; and his aunt and uncle, Wes and Betty Jean Gibson of Portland.

A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Air National Guard, 16801 Cornfoot Road, Portland. The body will be cremated. Autumn Funerals and Cremations of Portland is in charge of arrangements.
