Kendra Louise Morton Abbey, 43, of Fort Smith passed away, Monday, April 15, 2013. She was born January 5, 1970 in Bentonville, AR. She attended Community Bible Church in Fort Smith. She was a former First Methodist Weekday School teacher for four years. She taught for the Fort Smith School system for sixteen years at Pike, Cavanaugh, and Cook Elementary for the last ten years. She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Ted Abbey; daughters, Lauren and Lindsey of the home; father, Kenneth Morton of Sallisaw, OK; a brother, Kenny Morton and his wife Susan of Newbern, NC; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother; Vonda Morton, and two brothers. Kendra graduated from Northside High School in 1988. She then attended Arkansas Tech University and graduated with a degree in Early Elementary Education. She was an active board member of the PTA. She also volunteered her time working in the nursery at church. Most of her time was devoted to supporting her kids at home and at school (students). She loved to encourage her children and students by attending their sporting events and extracurricular activities. She made an ever-lasting impression on everyone she came in contact with. Above all, Kendra was a woman of extraordinary faith and loved the Lord. Cremation is under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. A Memorial service to honor her life will be Saturday at 2 pm at Community Bible Church, 9201 Dallas Street, Fort Smith. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be sent to the Don W.
