Birth: Dec. 4, 1919
Indiana, USA
Death: Jan. 3, 1945, Germany

Killed in action in Germany during WWII. James was the youngest son of George P Barrett and Maudie Mae Hopper.

James was killed Jan 3 1945 and first buried in Germany but on 13 April 1949 his remains were moved stateside to be reburied in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery in Louisville KY.... Section C, site 7.

James was the brother of my great grandmother. He was much loved by everyone who knew him. He loved to play and spend time with all his nieces and nephews.

He married Laura Jean Nowacki Jan 1941 in Pike Co Indiana before leaving to go overseas.

His Mother never got over his death, and for the longest time, refused to even believe he was dead being his body was buried in Europe and she never had a funeral or a grave. In 1949, the War Dept agreed to move Uncle James' body to the states when his family could have some closure. Even after his mother was able to see his grave, she still refused to believe it was him.

James was the loving father of two children.. Sandra and Jimmy
