DEATH OF DR. J. S. BARRETT
After Days of Suffering, the
Well Known Physician
Rests at Last.
Dr. J. S. Barrett, aged 38 years, a native of California, died at his apartments in hotel St. Michael, about 9 a.m., December 9, 1907, after a short, but painful illness. He leaves a wife and a little son and daughter. His mother and sister, as well as his wife, were at his bedside during his last sickness.
All that his brother physicians and loving friends could do, was done to stay the parting spirit, but without avail.
Dr. Barrett came here from San Francisco about eleven years ago. He was then a fine specimen of physical manhood and was an athlete. His manly and straightforward ways soon won him a large circle of friends, while his professional skill soon brought him to the front ranks of his profession. Some years after his arrival here, he was attacked by a malignant form of rheumatism, which practically crippled him; but he never complained and kept up his practice, just as before. At the time of his death he was in professional partnership with Dr. Flinn. He was a member of the local lodge of Elks, having joined the lodge November 28, 1893. Bright's disease is said to have been the cause of his death. Much sympathy is expressed for the bereaved family.
