Marjorie Ruth Brandt, 94, of Erie, IL, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the Erie Christian Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie Christian Church or the Erie Public Library. Marjorie was born May 14, 1918 in Erie, IL to Clifford and Ruth (Melton) Klendworth. She married Forrest Brandt on September 17, 1938. He passed away on June 25, 2002. They celebrated 65 years of marriage and had two children, Marilyn and Roger. Marjorie graduated from Erie High School in 1938. She was still living in the home that she and her husband designed and built in 1965. They wintered in Bradenton, Florida for 25 years, where they enjoyed golfing and many friends. She and Forrest enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and overseas. Marjorie was a member of the Erie Christian Church, where she sang in the choir, was a Sunday School teacher, and served as a Deaconess for many years. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, and also held several other offices within the chapter. Marjorie was a soloist for many years. She loved music. She wrote poems and lyrics to songs for special occasions. She was an avid golfer and had a hole in one at the Erie Country Club. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was a huge fan of gospel music, especially Bill Gaither. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Barb Brandt, Port Byron, son-in-law, Steve Jackson, Fulton; 5 grandchildren, Missy, Greg, Amber, Micheal and J.D.; 6 great grandchildren, Taylor, Jay & Tanner Jackson, Veronica & Cedric Urek, and Ian Brandt; sister, Marlene (Dick) Snowden, Erie, sister-in-law, Nelda Klendworth, Erie; and special friends Margaret Morris and Sharon (Blumhoff) Meier. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest, daughter, Marilyn Jackson, brothers, Kenneth and Jack Klendworth and grandson, Scott Jackson.
