Sally Ensey, 84, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Bowie. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Vashti Baptist Church. Interment: 11 a.m. Friday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Sally was born to Marvin Estes and Irene Ruth (Leonard) Gill in Decatur.
She served as the secretary and treasurer of the Vashti Volunteer Fire Department. She was the first woman elected to the Bellevue School Board and served for six years.
She was a member of the Vashti Baptist Church for more than 30 years where she also served as the secretary and treasurer. Sally was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Irene Gill; two husbands, J.O. Allgood and Jack Ensey; two brothers, Earl Gill and John Gill and three sisters, Mary Otwell, Betty McCann and Elaine Gill.
Survivors: Her son, granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
