Mr. Oliver Bacon, an old resident of Delmar, died at his home in that township last Saturday. Mr. Bacon was born in Tioga County, New York on the 2d of April 1801 and came to this county in 1813 with his father, who settled on the Marsh farm on Marsh Creek. Oliver afterward cleared up the 300 acre farm near Stony Fork in Delmar Township, Tioga County, PA, on which he has resided since 1819 being one of the first settlers in the area. He was a successful farmer and accumulated a competence, and was a influential and respected citizen of his township, being elected supervisor for many years. He was the father of eleven children, ten of who are still living, as is his wife also. Mr. Bacon had been confined to his house since about the middle of February, and for some time due to cardiac problems. Before his death he suffered a great deal. The funeral service is to be held this afternoon.
