Robert Luke Johnson
Robert Luke Johnson passed away peacefully Friday morning, November 8, 2013, at the age of 77. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lida Beth Clark. The most important thing in Dad's life was his family.
Robert was born to Esther Marie Thompson and Glen Hull Johnson on October 23, 1936, in Ogden, Utah. Robert Luke or "Bob" spent his childhood with his mother and sister, Elaine, in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High School. He was very close to his Uncle Fred and Aunt Thelma Holden and their children and his grandparents, Luke and Olga Thompson. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Soon after graduation Dad met his sweetheart, Beth. They were married December 4, 1954, in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1956. Bob and Beth settled in Layton, Utah, where they raised their six children. Bob was a devoted husband and father who worked long hours and often two jobs to provide for his family. He was always concerned about their welfare and safety and would do anything possible to help them. Beth passed away in 2001 - he missed her deeply.
In his early career, Bob was a computer programmer and analyst. He retired from the State of Utah Health Department where he was responsible for computer network security.
Bob loved spending time with his family, camping, guitars, listening to police scanners, treasure hunting at Deseret Industries, Fox News, and dogs, especially Peanut. He believed every family should have a dog.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Joni (Johnny) Fry, Kaysville; Sherri (Lon) Williams, Kaysville; Becky (Lance) Peterson, Taylor; Rob D. (Leslie) Johnson, Fruita, Colorado; James (Geneva) Johnson, Layton; Steve (Annmarie) Johnson, Kaysville; 21 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Ned Clark, Pat Raymond, and Sharon Booth.
Dad, we love and miss you, but are so happy you and mom are together again. Thank you for showing us how to work hard and be nice.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Liberty City Cemetery, Eden, Utah.
