MARRIAGE:: 21 APR 1839 in Bastendorff, Luxembourg
Maria Anna Gaasch b: 23 APR 1817 in Bastendorff, Luxembourg
From the marriage certificate between Jacques Busch and Maria Gaasch that reads as follows:

"In the year 1839, the 21st of the month of April, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon have appeared before me, Jean Wampach mayor and officer of the civil office of the municipality of Bastendorff, canton Diekirch, province of Lutzemburg (Luxembourg), Jacques Busch age 20 years, born in Landscheid the 24th of November 1818 living in Landscheid, yet under-age, son of Jean Busch and the deceased Anne Marie Hartz, who died on the 7th of November 1824, during their life having been married and were farmers (plowman and plowmaid) living in and registered in Landscheid.

"The father is here present and agrees to this marriage.

"Who have requested us, to proceed to the performance of the marriage they agreed upon, and the proclamations of which had taken place on successive Sundays, the 7th and 14th of this month at noon in Bastendorff statutory and without any contradiction.

"As no protest against this marriage has been presented to us, we do them justice; and after having read all above mentioned documents and the 4th chapter of the civil statute book, entitled MARRIAGE, we have asked the fiance and the fiancee whether they want to marry and, as each of them have affirmatively answered, we state, in the name of the law, that Jacques Busch and Marie Gaasch are now married.

The ceremony and documentation were completed in the presence of Jean Hartz age 41 years, living in Brandenbourg, a plowman, and the fiance's uncle; Francis Hartz age 31 years, living in Landscheid as plowman the fiance's uncle; and Jean Eilenbecker age 28 years, living in Bastendorff as plowman, the fiance's neighbour and Nicholas Gaasch age 23 years, living in Bastendorff a brother of the fiancee. The foregoing signed as witnesses after the ceremony was preformed and the documents were read to them.

This document was translated from a photocopy of the original document which was obtained by Lucille and Bill Murray, Boulder, CO. from the document archives in Diekirch, Luxembourg.
