He was born in Springfield, MA and lived in Enfield until entering the Air Force. He graduated from Enfield High School in 1963, and served with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion VFW in Hesperia and was a charter member of Pine Meadow Chapter of DeMolay in Enfield.
He leaves his wife; a daughter, Sherrie; a son, Richard, Jr. and his wife Traci in Hesperia; a son, Chuck and his wife Laura in Loveland, CO; and seven grandchildren, Jake, Nicholas, Christine, Chelsea, Cassie, Maisie and Quinlyn. He leave a sister, Judy Riley; and a brother, Wallace Bennett, Jr., both of Enfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A military funeral was held on June 1 in Desert View Chapel and burial was in Desert View Memorial Cemetery in Victorville, CA.
