Obituary
Mrs. Sarah Buffington, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mahan, was born July 3, 1855 [Transcriber's note: Most information indicates that she was born April 3, 1853]. She grew to womanhood at their old home farm on Mahan's creek near Winona, and January 24, 1876 was united in marriage in marriage [duplicate] to Wesley Buffington of the same community. After their marriage they made their home first at Hutton Valley, but for the last over thirty years they resided in Winona.
To this couple four children were born; three girls and a boy. The boy died in infancy but the three girls still survive. They are Mrs. W.T. Shoemate of Wesco, Mo., Mrs. Dink Gentry of Midco, Mo., and Mrs. W.C. Faires of this place.
Mrs. Buffington had lived with her daughter, Mrs. Faires several months before she finally succummed [sp], February 3, 1921 to the ravages of a disease which had preyed upon her for a long time. Her husband passed away some five years previously.
The remains were tenderly laid to rest in the Old Cemetery at Winona, Mo., February fourth.
