HOBART—Fred F. Schramm, 74, of 207 North Wilson street, Hobart, died of a heart attack Wednesday evening in a field in back of his home.
He was born March 3, 1883 in Texas, and had lived in Hobart since 1949. He was a retired master machinist of Youngstown Sheet and Tube Works, Gary.
He was educated at Berne and Neuhausen, Switzerland, and resided for a time in Europe.
Surviving are five sons. Raymond of South Bend, Paul of Hobart, Walter of Valparaiso, Victor of East Chicago, and Ferdinand of Livermore, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Bowman of Valparaiso, Mrs. Eunice Engel of Chicago, and Mrs. Alma Jordan of Livermore: 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Epp of Montaseno, Wash. Another son, Ernest, was lost at sea on submarine duty during World War II.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Pflughoeft chapel, Hobart, with the Rev. Walter Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Hobart. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.
