WWI Registration card dated Jun 5, 1918 in Miami, Gila, Arizona states his birth place, year, where he worked in Miami Arizona at a Copper Mine. the card states his birth place is Llamuca, Obrido, Spain. My research could not verify this place. Findagrave volunteer Victoria Lambert states his birth place is, Oviedo, Asturias, Spain.

The Maximo Alvarez Funeral Is to be Held New Year's Day

The coroners jury empaneled in investigate the death of Maximo Alvarez, a Spaniard, at the No. 5 shaft of the Miami mine yesterday morning returned a verdict last night finding that Alvarez came to his death by falling from the new head-frame being erected at that place by the Wisconsin Bridge company and that the accident was unavoidable. The funeral services will be held from the Catholic church in Miami at 2 P.m. tomorrow. Father Barrette officiating. The remains will be interred in the Globe cemetery.

M. ALVAREZ KILLED BY A 40 FT. FALL

Workman tumbles from a scaffold at the new Gallows frame erected at the Miami Mine.

Alvarez was clinging to the cable when cable was struck by iron beam -- Fellow Workman Escaped..

Maximo Alvarez was instantly killed at 9:30 this morning when he fell 40 feet from a scaffold at the new gallows frame being erected at the Miami mine by the Wisconsin Bridge company of North Milwaukee. Alvarez was working on a scaffold. In company with R. Wright at the time of the accident. According to the story told by fellow workmen on the job, a large --- beam was being hoisted into place which suddenly ---when it had assumed a vertical position, striking the iron cable to which Wright and Alvarez were clinging and causing Alvarez to release his hold on the cable and topple over backwards. He struck his head on an iron beam lying on the ground, crushing the skull and resulting in instant death. Wright maintained his hold on the cable and did not fall. The remains of Alvarez were brought to the undertaking parlors and a coroners jury is holding an in inquest this evening.
Mr. Alvarez leaves a wife and one child, the family residing in Red Springs Canyon in this city.
