The Adams County Democrat printed an obituary for Samuel R. Carson on Dec. 27, 1912.

OBITUARY

Samuel R. Carson, age 71, died at his home, Fifth and Colorado, Saturday morning, December 21. Heart trouble was the cause of his death and he had been sick for about three months. Mr. Carson was a harness maker and had been in the employ of J. H. Haney and Co. for the last twelve years, but was compelled on account of his health to give up his work last July. he is survived by a wife, two sons and two daughters. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist Church. Interment in the Parkview cemetery. Deceased was an old soldier and had been a resident of this county for over twenty-five years, always a hard worker and an enthusiatic friend of Hastings and Nebraska.

There was also a funeral notice printed on 21 Dec 1912 in the Hastings Daily Tribune on page 8. It states:

The funeral of S. R. Carson, aged 72, who died last Thursday, will be conducted at the Baptist church Monday at 1:30 o'clock. Reverand Taft will officiate and the body will be given a Masonic burial at Parkview.
