Edna Hunsucker Allen, 91, of Blackstone, widow of John Wesley Allen, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013.

She was the eldest daughter of the late Arthur Leach Hunsucker and Genie Morris Hunsucker.

Born and raised in High Point, NC, she graduated with the class of 1938 from High Point High School and Bryce Commercial College in High Point.

She was preceeded in death by two sister, Elizabeth (Lib) Stokes Blackmon and Inez Sandra Bennett and brother-in-law, John T. Bennett.

She is survived by her nephew, Rodney Morris Bennett; extended family Steve Holcomb and Glenda Allen Holcomb and children Cori Paige, Gary Wayne and Katie Marie Holcomb; sister-in-laws Ruby Allen Raborn and Jane Allen Kennison and nieces.

Edna was a member of the Blackstone Baptist Church and Bellefonte Grange #15.

For two years she was secretary to the Secretary of the Civil Service Commission for the City of High Point and twelve years as a legal secretary for the legal firm of the late James B. Lovelace. She then worked as secretary with the engineering office of Bivins & Caldwell that became a Subsidiary of the Hewlett Packard Company of Polo Alto, CA.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2013 from 7 - 8:30 pm at Hamner-McMillian Funeral Home, 1400 South Main Street, Blackstone and the service will be Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Amelia Veteran's Cemetery.
