William L. (Bud) Dahms was born in Deepwater on November 18, 1907, to the late Guy and Ida Bailey Dahms. He attended grade and high school in Deepwater, graduating with the class of 1927. Bud worked for the Dickey Tile Factory for 26 years. After it closed in 1949, he went to work for Missouri Public Service Company on the gas and water crew. He worked there for 24 years before retiring in November 1972. Bud was united in marriage to Pauline Carter in February 1928. To this union four children were born, Lelia, Richard, Mary Lou and Julia. Bud spent most of his life in Deepwater, except for 15 years when he lived in Clinton. He served several years on the Deepwater School Board and two years on the city council in Clinton. On March 31, 1973, he married Mildred Dunning at the Allen Street Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Harold Norflleet officiating. He accepted Christ as his Savior and attended church at the Deepwater Christian Church regularly. Bud died Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at Golden Valley Hospital at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his wife Mildred of the home; his three children, Richard Dahms and wife Deloris of St. Joseph, Mary Lou Robinson, and Julia Dahms; two stepchildren, Larry Dunning and wife Mildred, and Barbara Price and husband Roger; one sister Lauryne Aaron; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; five step-grandchildre;n and one step-great-grandson. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills chapel on Saturday, December 2.
