David Hartmann, 76, of Kent, Washington, died Friday, January 12, 1990.
He was born in Sheboygan, WI May 14, 1913. He graduated from Sheboygan High School in 1931, played semi-professional football for the Sheboygan Merchants for several years, and also served in the Wisconsin National Guard. In 1942 he traveled to the west coast seeking employment after telling the Kohler Company he did not like their unfair labor practices. He found employment in the Todd Shipyards in Seattle. Once he got settled and found a home, in 1943, he sent for his family who traveled west via the Milwaukee Road. David attended night school at the Old Edison high school and, thereby, earned an electrician's certificate. He was employed as a Journeyman electrician in the construction industry.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Eckhardt Hartmann; two daughters, Gail (Jerome) Cronk of Seattle and Janice (Ken) Olsen of Redwood Valley, California; two sons, David (Cindy) of Penryn, California and Thomas (Omega) of Cranford, New Jersey; one sister, Emily Brom of Sheboygan; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Memorial services were held January 17, 1990 in Kent, Washington.
A private internment service will be held in Sheboygan.
