Dr. Ira Eugene Adams, 81, of Court Street, Fulton, died October 22, 1951 at Callaway County Hospital. Dr. John J. Brown, of Fulton, ruled death as Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Ateriosclerosis. Informant was Mrs. Irene Musick.
Ira was a highly esteemed minister and resident of Fulton since 1921. During the years he lived in Callaway County he served rural Christian churches, was Vice President of William Woods College during the presidency of Dr. R.H. Crossfield and was Chaplain at the Fulton State Hospital for four years prior to his death.
He preached at the Friendship Church near Centralia, Audrain County, and at the following Callaway County Churches: Hams Prairie, Bachelor, Dixie, Mokane, New Bloomfield, Central and Barkersville. He was widely known and respected as a man who believed in the worth of all men. He was a friend of everyone.
Dr. Adams was born February 10, 1870 in Boone County, Missouri, the son of James Adams and Jessie (Jacobs) Adams. Both the Adams and Jacobs families were pioneer settlers of Boone County.
On August 25, 1892 he was married to Johnnie Corrine Higgins in Alvarado, Texas. They had one daughter, Irinne Eugenia Adams Musick born December 27, 1906 at Sarcoxie, Missouri.
Dr. Adams was a learned man, not only from his formal education, but from his self-motivated study. He was an avid reader and kept currently informed on scientific and social progress. His vast knowledge was apparent in his sermans, in that they reflected the modern and humane approach to everyday living. He had a profound effect on all who knew him.
Arrangements were under the direction of Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
Ira Eugene Adams, 81, of Court Street, Fulton, died at 11:55pm on October 22, 19512 at Callaway County Hospital where he had been a patient for five days.
Dr. John J. Brown, of Fulton, pronounced death caused by Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Arteriosclerosis. The informant was Mrs. Linnie Musick of Fulton.
Mr. Adams was born February 10, 1870, in Missouri, the son of James and Jessie (Jacob) Adams. He was united in marriage to Johnnie Corrine Higgins and she survives him. Mr. Adams was in the Ministry.
Arrangements were under the care of Maupin Funeral Home and burial was in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
