Virginia was 7 years old when her mother died of tuberculosis in Macon county, Missouri. Emma had gone back home to die at her brother Albert's home.

Her uncle John and aunt Nellie Schwenk took her in, adopted her and changed her last name from Fletcher to Schwenk. She is shown with her Aunt Nell in the picture to the left.

In the 1920 census, she lis listed as Virginia Schwenk, living with with John and Nellie Schwenk in Brookings county, South Dakota. Also listed is a brother Carl, age 21, who is listed as John's nephew.

Virginia married Milton "Mickey" F. Bach. They had no children together.

Her date of death is unknown. At the time of her father's death in 1972, she was living in Los Angeles as Virginia Bach.
