Revolutionary War Medallion and flag was placed on James Batten's tombstone at Hopewell UMC on 4/12/06.
"James Batten b.1741 d. 1811 He served as a lieutenant in the Fourth Pa. Company during the Revolutionary War. He was assessor in East Caln, Justice of the Peace, and a founder of Hopewell United Methodist Church- Diane Mowery, Church Historian."
The location of the stone is easy to find. The church sits across the street from the cemetery. From the driveway next to the oldest part of the church (that will be obvious) directly across the street is a foot-path gate. The Davis monument is to the left. Continue straight and the Batten burials are on the left.
