Ellen, wife of Edmund Fanning (circa 1620 Ireland - Dec 1683 Stonington, CT). Her WikiTree profile is here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Butler-1963 A great deal of research on the Fanning and Butler families of Ireland show that there were many connections, this information is being reviewed as of Feb 2022 to determine the strength of evidence for a surname of Butler (see Fanning One Name Study here https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Fanning_Name_Study)

Her geni.com profile showing that name is completely unsourced, the profile of her husband indicates that "Butler" came from "Mrs. Ruba A. Orr's Ancestor Chart #836-53 in the Connecticut Society of Genealogists, Inc" which does not appear to be publicly available and likely does not include any sourcing either.
This Ellen is my 8th great grandmother and I will continue to research her and update information as it is found.
One of the primary sources of information was "History of the Fanning Family...etc..." available freely here https://archive.org/details/historyfanningf00broogoog/page/n94 but this has been superseded by newer and more complete research and analysis so must be used with caution. See the ONS study above for more details.

Ellen appeared in court records and land deeds from the time of the death of her husband Edmund Fanning through at least 1687 (County Court records of Norwich) and possibly died by Jan 1692/93 when the homestead farm where the family had lived was sold by sons James and Thomas.
Ellen was admitted to the Stonington First Congregational Church 2 Oct 1684.
