Alma Bernice, daughter of Sam S. and Ella Black, was born on a farm in the Corbett community and moved into Lexington with her family as a girl. After graduating highschool, she worked for many years at various office jobs, the last being with an auto company. Living with her parents, she cared for her mother in her last illness.

Bernice was survived by her father, of the home, her brother, A. E. (Bus) and his wife, Jewell, and by one nephew, Donnie Lee Black, all of Lindsay. Several cousins and other relatives and many friends also mourn her passing.
