Louise Aline Smith Blumhof was born on January 5, 1914 to Henry David Smith and Myrtle Jane Latimer Smith in Cleveland County, near Lexington, Oklahoma. She entered into heaven on March 31, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Aline was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister, Ruby Rose, and an older brother J.B. who died as an infant. She is survived by her sister Ada Vautress Nicholson, of Plano, TX; brother Lawrence Smith and wife Bobbie, of Lexington, Oklahoma; and youngest sister, Bonnie Shobert, also of Lexington, Oklahoma. Aline was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Virgil G. Blumhof. She is survived by her only daughter Norma and her sonin-law, Joe Thomson. Aline grew up on a farm near Corbett, Oklahoma. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1932. She was given the opportunity to attend the University of Oklahoma by caring for children of a Norman family in exchange for her room and board. Aline graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in July 1942. She taught elementary school at Rosedale and Lexington, before moving to Oklahoma City to teach at Wilson Elementary School. After Virgil and Aline were married in 1947, she gave up her teaching job to devote full time to her family. Aline was the daughter of a Baptist deacon, and so she grew up at church. She was saved as a young adult at Corbett Baptist Church. Aline and Virgil joined Crestwood Baptist Church in 1963. Aline began teaching adult ladies Sunday School at Crestwood Baptist Church in 1965 and taught 32 years until 1997 when Virgil became ill and she could no longer attend regularly. Even when she could not attend, she would read her Bible and listen to her favorite TV preachers. She always had a happy smile and sweet spirit. She will be missed by all her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at Crestwood Baptist Church, 2515 N.W. 16th, Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
