Mrs. Maggie Ruth White Baker, age 87, of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012. She was born on August 2, 1924 in Fulton County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William H. and Hattie Mae Wilson White. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist by faith. Mrs. Baker loved to quilt and play bingo and doing word puzzles. She was also willing to help people and was even a caregiver to many of her friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Roy Baker; sister, Corabell Maxwell; and two brothers.

Survivors include her ex-husband and best friend, Larry Baker; children, Carl Whitt, Sr. and his wife, Liz, of Winston, Joe Whitt of Douglasville, Freddie Whitt and his wife, Lynn, of Stockbridge, Patty Graves of Ringgold, Georgia, Marie Watson of Trion, Georgia and Bobby Baker and his wife, Ellen, of Marietta, Georgia; grandchildren, Andrea Sherer, Lori Baggett, Carl Whitt, Jr., Frances Bryant, Sherry Long, Amanda Phillips, Anthony Whitt, Brandon Whitt, Chris Graves, April Milligan, Cindy Harris, Cassie Baker and Emma Baker; 14 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville with Reverend Alan Clayton officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro at 1:30 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sherer, Milford Bryant, Chris Baggett, Curt Long, Mark Phillips, Chris Sherer, Corey Sherer.
