Ralph Leonard Brown 78 of Bluefield,VA, died peacefully Friday morning,May 27 2016 at Westwood Center,Bluefield,VA with his family by his side.

Born October 15, 1937 in Pounding Mill, VA, he was the son of the late Walter Bernard Brown and Lena Ettus Puckett Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Jean Dudley Brown; two daughters, Cheryl Patrice Lockhart and husband Bryan of Pounding Mill, VA and Julienne Marie Parker and husband Randall of Danville, VA; one son Keith Leonard Brown and wife Julia of Abingdon, VA; grandchildren Erin Lockhart, Bethany Lockhart, Christopher Lockhart, Ethan Parker, Zachary Parker, and Wen-Fan (Wendy) Brown; one brother, James T. Brown, Front Royal, VA; two sisters, Hazel L. Brown, Richlands, VA, and Ann E. Santolla, Dale City, VA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a special “adopted daughter,” Kristen Pujari, of Bluefield, WV.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Brown.

Ralph was a 1956 graduate of Richlands High School and attended McLain’s Business College. He was employed by Bluefield Supply Company, Bluefield Distributing Company, and Adventure Communications as an accountant.

Ralph loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed golf as well as camping and fishing with his family. He was a charter member of the Bluefield Parkinson’s Disease Support group.

Ralph was a member of the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield, VA, where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Tazewell District Lay Leader, and member of the United Methodist Men. He was an Assistant Boy Scout Leader to Troop 144 under Scout Master, Ray Nash.

Ralph was a member of the Bluefield Mercer Masonic Lodge #85, serving as Worshipful Master, and was the recipient of a 50 year pin. Members of Bluefield Mercer Lodge #85 will serve as pallbearers.

Services to celebrate Ralph Brown’s life will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church, Bluefield, VA, with Dr. Kenneth Sprinkle officiating. Interment and Masonic Rites, by Bluefield Mercer Lodge #85, will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, WV.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, VA.
