John Cenk Jr. 75, of 284 Dark Hollow Road, Oakmont, PA was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday, August 14, 1985 at Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington.
Born March 14, 1910 in Oakmont, he was the son of a late John and Mary Mattes Cenk Sr., and a lifelong resident of the area. He was also preceded in death by a son, John III and a daughter, Eileen.
Before retiring he was a foreman for the Scaife. Co Oakmont were he was employed for 30 years.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter. His generosity was abound for helping others in carpentry, cement work, and so on without ever asking anything in return.
He was a member of St. Irenaeus RC Church and a member of the SNPJ Lodge in Verona, PA. He served as an auxiliary policeman for the Oakmont Boro.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Kirn Cenk; a son, William E. of Dorseyville, PA; three daughters, Mrs. Mary (Daniel)Yanicko of West Deer; Mrs. Amelia (Donald)Sobr of Harrisburg; Mrs. Joanne (Stephen)Zelahy of Plum; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Pauline (Samuel) Toia of Oakmont.
Friends will be received tonight from 7 to 9 and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at George P. Petruney FH 732 Brunot St. Verona, PA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebratd Saturday at 9:30 at St. Irenaeus RC Church, Maryland Ave, Oakmont, PA. Burial will be in the Oakmont Cemetery.
