Obit-Ethan Allen, aged 75 years, a veteran of the Civil War and a well-known and prominent resident of Indiana County, passed away yesterday at the home of his brother, W.G. Allen at Dixonville. Death was due to a complication of diseases, incident to old age.
The deceased was born in Jefferson county near Punxsutawney February 21, 1845 and came with his parents to Indiana when but a young child.
During the Civil War he served as a member of a Company in the One Hundred and Fifth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, under Capt. Marlin.
He leaves these brothers and sisters; S.L. Allen, Eskridge, Ks.; W.G. Allen of Dixonville; Mrs. Priscilla Berry [sic Barry] of Punxsutawney and Mrs. William Boucher of Taylorsville. The funeral services will be conducted in the Taylorsville Church tomorrow, Saturday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, with interment following in the Taylorsville cemetery. A large number of veterans of the War of Rebellion, including a detail from the Indiana Post, will attend the obsequies.
