Edward W. Cagney was a life-long Cincinnati, Ohio resident. One of Edward's jobs was a driver of horse-drawn carriages on Vine Street. He was later a pipe fitter who is said to have helped put the piping in the original Island Queen. In 1895 he married Amelia Long. Edward became a police officer in 1897 and retired from service in 1925 due to physical disability. In retirement, Edward and his wife, Amelia, lived on a farm near Bethel, Ohio.
