Her name is Susan Rebecca "Blackburn" Eckman.

Age is wrong. She was not born in 1830 as shown on her headstone. Her date of birth believed to be 6/15/1843. Her age was confused in her later years of life and continued after that point. Her date of death is 2/5/1931.

From Callie Torres:
Susan Rebecca BLACKBURN CURTIS ECKMAN: she was orphaned at a young age and could not remember her birth surname. From what my grandmother told me, the only things her grandmother could recall were of her trip by covered wagon from Georgia to Texas, that she had a sister (but not her name), her mother had died (perhaps at childbirth) and that she could remember sitting in her father's lap. The story goes...that her father wanted to travel on to California and Susan was too young for him to take on the trip. So he left her with the Blackburn family, taking Susan's sister with him. His intention was to return for Susan. Time past and he never returned, then over time her true surname was forgotten...or so the story is told...any number of things could have truly happened.

I talked to a couple of my grandmother's cousins and my grandmother's sister (they are all now deceased)...and all told me the same story and that the only maiden name she had was her adopted name. I have heard no mention of BLACKWELL referenced to her name, but it is possible, since i do not know her true given last name. Susan and Rebecca are her true first and middle names, and she went by the nickname of "Susie".
