Birth: Nov. 10, 1869
Tennessee, USA
Death: Mar. 20, 1930
Atlanta
Fulton County
Georgia, USA

Ira Lee Hill died in Georgia of heart failure. We might say that his heart was broken and we would be right. Ira's beloved grandson Jackie Hilton , just 5 years old, died a couple of weeks before Ira. Jackie had diabetes in a time when treatment was limited, he was blind and died from complications of the disease. Jackie was reported to have said as he lay dying, "Don't cry Papaw, I will see you soon."

Ira worked at the car works most of his adult life. He and his wife Kate ran a boarding house on Depot Street in Lenoir City and many of it's residents were also employed at the car works.

He had lost his son Clifford in 1913. His son Ralph was born a year later. His daughter Virgie, born in 1907, was the mother of Jackie.
