George Burnham Davis, 88, of Kill Devil Hills, died Saturday, April 3, in his residence.
Born in Darlington, SC, he was the son of the late Robert Wright and Elizabeth Smith Davis and the widower of Sara Moore Davis.
He was retired from the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation in accounts payable.
He was a member of Garner United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Men's Bible Class and served as a teacher and song leader. He served his community in many volunteer services and was a former Volunteer of the Year for the State of North Carolina. He also was an avid craftsman.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy D. Eadie and husband Ed of Elizabeth City and Harriett D. Bryant and husband Mitchell of Monroe, NC; one son, T. Olin Davis and wife Dotsy of Manteo; Two sisters, Roberta Mixson of Snellville, GA and Eloween Ward of Aiken, SC; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A service of remembrance will be in Garner United Methodist Church, Sunday, April 11, at 3 p.m. by Rev. Bob Redmond.
