The 1900 US Census of Leeds, Jefferson Co., AL enumerated the household of 40 Y/O John Henry Abercrombie, a dry goods merchant, and his 38 Y/O wife, Fannie (Godwin) Abercrombie. Also living in the household were their children: 20 Y/O Mary Frances Abercrombie, a music teacher; 19 Y/O William Alexander Abercrombie, at school; 16 Y/O Emmie Abercrombie, at school and 10 Y/O Beatrice Martha Abercrombie, at school. NOTE: Living in the household next door was John Henry's 26 Y/0 brother, Andrew Jackson Abercrombie, Sr. and is 24 Y/O wife, Fannie (Gillespie) Abercrombie. Also living in the household were his 5 Y/O son, Robert W. Abercrombie and his 3 Y/O daughter, Lucile Abercrombie. Andrew's occupation was dry goods merchant.

Emmie Abercrombie graduated from the Birmingham Seminary on 28 May 1903 (Graduating certificate is extant).

Emmie Abercrombie married Dr. William Madison Dinsmore on 25 May 1909 shortly after he graduated in the 1909 Class of the Birmingham Medical College located in Birmingham, AL.

The 29 Apr 1910 US Census of Priceville, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of 30 Y/O Dr. William Madison Dinsmore, M. D., practicing general medicine, and his 26 Y/O wife, Eurena "Emmie" (Abercrombie) Dinsmore. Also living in the household was their 11 months old son, Burleson Abercrombie Dinsmore.

The 1920 US Census of Ward 4 Albany, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of 40 Y/O Dr. William Madison Dinsmore, M. D., practicing general medicine, and his 34 Y/O Emmie (Abercrombie) Dinsmore. Also residing in the household were their children: 9 Y/O Burleson Abercrombie Dinsmore; 7 Y/O Frances Elizabeth Dinsmore; 2 Y/O Charles Lloyd Dinsmore and 6 Months old James Jackson Dinsmore. Also living in the household was 70 Y/O widowed John Dinsmore, father of William Madison Dinsmore. NOTE: this is an enumeration error. William Dinsmore's father's name was Charles Tucker Dinsmore.

The premature death of the late Dr. William Madison Dinsmore, husband of Emmie Dinsmore, on 18 Apr 1923 "was tragic in that a small medical instrument (a needle) led to his death. The wound caused blood poisoning and the official report signed by Nashville, TN physicians who were attending him at the last stated blood poisoning caused the death of Dr. Dinsmore." The 1930 US Census of Decatur, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of the widowed 44 Y/O Emmie (Abercrombie) Dinsmore. Also living in the household were her children: 20 Y/O Burleson Abercrombie Dinsmore; 17 Y/O Frances Elizabeth Dinsmore; 13 Y/O Charles Lloyd Dinsmore and 10 Y/O James Jackson Dinsmore.

The 1940 US census of Decatur, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of the 53 Y/O widow, Emmie Abercrombie Dinsmore. Also living in the household were sons: 20 Y/O James Jackson "Jack" Dinsmore, a department store clerk and 23 Y/O Charles Lloyd Dinsmore, a knitter in a hosiery mill, and his 23 Y/O wife, Annie Sue (Greenhill) Dinsmore, a supervisor in a hosiery mill.

the 1959 Decatur, Alabama City Directory recorded Emmie Dinsmore, widow of William Madison Dinsmore, living at 439 Sherman St. Also living at the same address was her son, Charles Lloyd Dinsmore, and his wife, Annie Sue (Greenhill) Dinsmore. Living near by was her son, Burleson Abercrombie Dinsmore and his wife, Sarah Elsie (Simpson) Dinsmore, a teacher. Burleson was employed as a clerk at the Railway Express Agency.

Mrs. Emmie Abercrombie Dinsmore, Decatur, who died Monday was a native of Birmingham. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church of Decatur more than 50 years. Graveside services will be at 11 a. m. Wednesday at Forest Hill (Cemetery), Brown-Service Decatur directing. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W. T. McLaughlin, Birmingham, three sons, D. A. and C. L. Dinsmore, Decatur, and J. J. Dinsmore, Opelika and a sister, Mrs. W. C. Farrar, Birmingham. The family suggests any memorials be in the form of donations to Alabama Sheriff's Boys and Girls Ranches.
