COTTAGE GROVE - A memorial service will be Dec. 1 for Mary Frances Bridenstine of Cottage Grove, who died Nov. 25 of age-related causes. She was 85.

Bridenstine was born Jan. 26, 1918, in Dorena to Hugh and Anna Bales Doolittle. She married Olaf Bridenstine in Vancouver, Wash., on June 22, 1940. He died Oct. 31, 1989.

She was a member of the last graduating class from Dorena High School.

She worked as a housekeeping supervisor at Cottage Grove Hospital.

She served as a volunteer with the SMART reading program.

She enjoyed gardening, music, games and puzzles and traveling in the United States and aboard.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances Banton of Lakeview and Katie Millar of Everett, Wash.; a son, Samuel of North Bend; a sister, Naomi Horner of Cottage Grove; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Monday's service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
