Kermit was united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Russell on June 14, 1952 and to this union two daughters were born. Kermit was a 1949 Salem High School graduate. He served in the Army National Guard from 1947- 1968. He worked at Robert-Judson Lumber company for 47 years. He was very active in his community; he served 33 years as a volunteer fire fighter, also serving as Fire Chief for several years. He served as a referee and judge for the Salem FFA boxing matches for many years. He was a child of GOD. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoor. He loved being grandpa and great-grandpa. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kermit is survived by his wife, Dorothy Allen; daughters, Karen Allen of Rolla, Missouri, Kathy Dunlap of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; sisters, Lavern Nichols of St. Louis, Missouri, Norma Belflower of Anutt, Missouri, Mary Ellen Butler of Kansas City, Kansas; brothers, Jim Allen and wife Eunice of Glasgow, Kentucky, Clinton Allen and wife Barbara of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Darrin Limbaugh, Lori Thurman, Gregory Dunlap, Lyndsey Tate, Megan Spardin; great-grandchildren, Isaac Limbaugh, Jaxson Bull, Jaden Thurman, Cosette Tate; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents Kermit was preceded in death by his brothers, Grant Allen and Billy Allen.

Funeral services for Kermit Lester Allen were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at The Salem Christian Church in Salem, Missouri. A visitation for family and friends was held from 5:00PM- 7:00PM Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary. Interment was held with full military honors.
