In 1905, at 21 yrs. of age she is in Preston Village, Fillmore County, Minnesota, working as a servant. 1910, she is living in Harmony, Fillmore County, with the Pulver family.

On November 2, 1915, Emma married Paul Schultz in Fillmore County. Paul had been born in Germany in approximately 1883 and, pursuant to the October 29, 1915, marriage license, Paul was from Dubuque County, Iowa. In 1920, Emma and Paul are living in Dubuque County. In 1930, they are living in Julien, Dubuque County
