This is a work in progress. My Uncle Chick lived next door to my Grandparents in Mascot and he was very badly treated by his parents. His father chased him with an axe. His mothers name was Mary Williams. When they left for Their new home in Kentucky south as a soldiers settlement after the first world war,my grandparents made sure that charles came to live with them and grow up on the farm.He and Lin Willamson were now brothers.Uncle Chick helped around the farm.He joined up in 1940.

This is a poem written by a school girl
that met Chick on a school talk.No tribute to chick could leave out this poem.

The first thing I noticed
when Charles and I met
was the line of long ribbons
that I'll never forget
A line so long nearly running off
his chest
so many silver circles
they would jingle when he
walked...I guess
"Gidday" we said
on his special day
and his eyes lit up
in a sparkely sort of way
a hug for the children
a laugh and a smile
he shows them his silver
and we listened a while

He spoke of KOKODA
the middle East and other parts
the struggle of young men
with hearts like horses hearts
in such a few short words

we could only guess the depth
of what it rook to endure
until nothing was left...
But to farewell faithful
brothers and board the ship home
to find life and love
and a freedom all his own

a fellow so small I saw something
big in his eye
When I see what it is
me wants to cry!

Its what he did for my chidren and me
in that far away land
that gave me a life here
In the sun and the sand
Life is so sweet in this peaceful
Charmed place
for all of his days
I wish peace love and Grace.
Cremated, Ashes scattered.
