Marvin (Bo) Lester Arnold Jr., 64, of Galax, Va., passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Salem, Va. Mr. Arnold was born on March 30, 1943, in Grayson County, Va., to Marvin Lester Arnold Sr. and Edna Sutherland Arnold.
Mr. Arnold was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church; former chairman of Carroll County Republican party; secretary of American Red Cross and past chairman of Red Cross Blood Program for 30 years; Commander of DAV; and a member of Galax Jaycees and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Arnold, of Galax, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Greg Bolen, of Hillsville, Va.; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Vaughn, of Alexandria, Va., Anne and Joe Didio, of Smithfield, Va., and Bonnie Arnold, of Woodlawn, Va.; brothers, Terry Arnold, of Fancy Gap, Va., and David Arnold, of Fries, Va.; brother-in-law and his wife, Ronnie and Peggy Sisk, of Austinville, Va.; three grandchildren, Tiffannie Perry, Whitney Perry and Alan Bolen; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. James Cowley officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, March 15, 2008, from 7 until 9 p.m. at VaughanGuynn Funeral Home.
