Gladys Lundy Adams, 84, of Independence, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, N.C.
She was the widow of William Heffinger.
He was born March 19, 1917, in Marion to Ernest Wesley and Gertrude Crigger Lundy.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and David Hamm of Independence and Mildred and Rondie Mabe of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Loretta Heffinger of San Diego, Calif., Charles and Dorothy Heffinger and Junior and Dorothy Heffinger, all of Independence; a daughter-in-law, Betty Heffinger of Wilson, N.C.; a half sister, Mary Haga; four half brothers, Jack Lundy, Owen Lundy, Ed Lundy and Bill Lundy; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held Monday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with burial in the Chestnut Hill Cemetery. The Revs. Fred E. Jennings, Tom Burcham and William Howard officiated.
