Obituary - Saginaw News (8/?/1989) - Frei, Mrs. Mary Agnes, Saginaw, Michigan - Beloved wife, mother and grandmother died Monday, August 14, 1989, at the age of 81. Mary Agnes Roberts was born Dec. 25, 1907 in London, Ontario, Canada. She moved to Bay Port, Mich. as a child. She married Frank Frei Dec. 4, 1926. He predeceased her March 2, 1989. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, William Frei and his wife, Nancy, Frankenmuth; Ronald Frei and his wife Beverly, Mount Pleasant; Elizabeth Mix and her husband James, Lansing; 11 grandchildren, Donald Sutherland, Saginaw, Gary Ackerson, of New Jersey; David Ackerson and Mary Lawrence, both of Lansing, Robert Frei, Beaverton; Bruce Frei, Utica; Andrea Bowns, Bay City; Stephen Frei, Mt. Clemens; Brian Frei, Frankenmuth; Richard and James Frei, both of Mount Pleasant; 18 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters; Helen Arnevits, Bay Port; Dorothy Durkee, Ortonville; six sisters-in-law, Alice Roberts, Detroit; Anna Fischler, Rocky River, Ohio; Martha Light, Reese; Mary Durkee, Sebewaing; Helen Deering, Bay Port; Pauline Cherry, Homosassa, Fla.; she also leaves two brothers-in-law, Paul Helms, Bay Port; Carl Millerwise, Santee, Calif.; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth (Anderson) Roberts, three brothers, Harold, Thomas and William Roberts, three sisters, Mona Helms, Catherine Millerwise and Lucille Roberts. She was formerly employed by the Michigan Sugar Plant in Carrollton. Mary was a member of West Michigan Ave. United MethodistChurch. Her hobby was crocheting. During the years she made many tablecloths and rugs and 37 afghans were given to her children, grandchildren and friends.
Funeral service will take place 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Reitz-Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 Midland Rd., between Gratiot and State. Rev. Frank B. Cowick will officiate with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and on Thursday from 12:00 noon until time of service. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Saginaw, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
