She was born February 7, 1876 near Hayesville and was a daughter of Hiram and Myrtis Knowler Utterback. On December 3, 1899 she was married to Homer A. Beasley and they started housekeeping on a farm west of Sigourney. They adopted a son, Gerald, to whom they gave every devotion. He died February 24, 1942 and Mr. Beasley also preceded his wife in death on July 24, 1946.
The couple lived in Sigourney for a number of years, including 10 years while Mr. Beasley served Keokuk county as sheriff. They also farmed near Sigourney and Ollie, and later operated the restaurant in Hayesville for about six years until Mr. Beasley's death. She had lived with her sister, Mrs. Ed Bryant and family in Iowa City for a number of years.
Mrs. Beasley was a member of Sigourney Christian church, Rebekah lodge and Woman's Relief Corps.
Surviving is her sister, Mrs. Bryant. Two brothers preceded her in death, Clarence Utterback of Delta and one, as a boy.
The funeral service will be held at the local Christian church on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Streed of Iowa City and the Rev. Robert M. Hall, pastor. Burial will be in Pennington cemetery.
