William Arnold was born in Buckingham County, Virginia in ca 1775. William married Mary Ann "Polly" Brown on Oct. 18, 1801, in South Carolina and they had 5 known children. William was a PVT in the 3 ALSTON'S South Carolina Militia. William and his family migrated in the early 1820s, from Spartanburg, South Carolina to Georgia, eventually settling in Gwinnett County, where the family engaged in farming, and where they lived out the rest of their lives.

William died in 1840 at the age of 65, Mary Ann "Polly" died in 1861, at the age of 81. After the death of William, Polly lived with daughter Lucinda until the mid 1850s. At the time of her (Polly's) death, she was living with her grand-daugther (Harrison Arnold's daughter), Mary Ann "Polly" and her husband, John E. Woodruff in Gwinnett County. Mary Ann Polly's gravesite is Memorial# 73127960, also in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Gwinnett Co, GA

William and Polly's son, Harrison Arnold is also buried in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Their son, Anderson A. Arnold (1805-83) is buried at the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Snellville, Gwinnett County, Georgia. His FAG Mem # is 26682598.
